Antelope Valley Christian School
July 20, 2011

LANCASTER, CALIFORNIA (07/17/11) – Antelope Valley Christian School, a K-12 school in the heart of the AV, has announced plans to offer a fully integrated, high-tech, technology literacy program for all its students in grades K-12 this fall. The program will include new state-of-the-art computers, software and networking. The equipment is the foundation for technology integration into all aspects of the school's curriculum.

In addition to staff training and student skill training, the school will be using high-level technology skills within all classroom curriculums. "This integration approach goes beyond a simple hardware or software solution. With BEYOND Technology we impact teaching and learning at the curriculum level and prepare our students for a high-tech future," said Douglas McKenzie, the school's Executive Director.

Students and teachers will learn all International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) standards areas including Internet research, spreadsheets, databases, word-processing, multi-media, desktop publishing, basic skills and graphics. At every grade level, K-12, students will participate in technology projects built specifically for the curriculum and standards already being used by the teacher.

Teachers from Beyond Technology will develop classroom projects based on the lesson plans of the teacher and each project will be fully integrated into the classroom plan. Over a three year project plan each grade level and each subject will have 12 fully integrated technology projects, developing their computer skills in the context of their classroom curriculum.

Teachers will also receive training in curriculum integration and project based learning. The project was developed and is being managed by BEYOND Technology Education, Inc. based in Chino Hills, CA. "Our approach to school wide integration goes beyond hardware and software" said Ernie Delgado, company President and Co-founder. "We really want to impact classroom instruction so a large part of our emphasis involves helping teachers develop their computer skills and learn how to integrate them into classroom content while adhering to state and local curriculum standards."

Each student and teacher at Antelope Valley Christian School will be given extensive training so the integration aspect can be realized. "This is not something that happens overnight," said Rick Harrell, CEO of BEYOND Technology Education. "Our methods look at all aspects of the school planning process and provides for milestones of achievement which our company tracks. Our approach is exactly what schools need today to truly integrate technology at all levels of the curriculum process while maintaining a strict budget plan."
