Junior and Senior HighSummer School

Antelope Valley Christian School announces open enrollment for Junior and Senior High Summer School 2010/2011. Students may make up an academic class, do remedial work or complete an academic course requirement. Short term intensive coursework permits students to complete a thorough course of study in a small personalized classroom.

Summer School is a two-semester, six-week term.

¡ Semester 1,

June 13 - July 1 is equivalent to the 1st Semester of each class.

¡ Semester 2

July 5 - July 22 is equivalent to the 2nd Semester of each class.

Also offered are enrichment and elective courses. Prices, dates and requirements are listed as well.

Enrollment for AVCS summer courses is open to all students, public and private. Each student agrees to abide by the policies and standards of AVCS Summer School Program.

Semester 1 (One)

June 13 –July 1

Class 1: 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Class 2: 12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

¡ Registration $40 per class,

If you register by 5/20, there is a discounted rate of $35 per class.

¡ Semester tuition:

Course Option I: $375.00 ($125 weekly)

Course Option 2: $300.00 ($100 weekly)

Semester 2 (Two)

July 5 – 22

Class 1: 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

Class 2: 12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

If you register by 6/24, there is a discounted rate of $35 per class.

¡ Semester tuition:

Course Option I: $375.00 ($125 weekly)

Course Option 2: $300.00 ($100 weekly)

Tuition is payable in sum or in weekly payments.

Weekly tuition payments are due the Thursday prior to each week's classes.

Late payments will include a $10 late fee.

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES

SAT Preparation

(Open to Grades 8-12)

S.A.T. Preparatory Course provides comprehensive training that will provide students with in-depth test coverage that will boost their confidence for the SAT exam. Students will review the objective of the test; learn testing strategies, and review concepts and skills in reading comprehension, writing, and mathematics.

Financial Policy & Agreement

Books—AVCS students retaking an academic class may use their own books, with approval. Books must be presented at registration and approved. AVCS students taking English must purchase new Vocabulary and Grammar books. Non-AVCS students must purchase all books.

Tuition & Fees—Registration fees, book fees and one week's tuition must be paid before a student may attend class. Tuition is due weekly on the Thursday prior to attendance. Late payments must include a $10 late fee per child. There will be a $25 fee for any returned check. Registration Fees are non-refundable. Tuition fees are non-refundable after the first day of class.

Registration Procedure: All registration fees and book fees must be paid at the time of registration. Payment for tuition must be made by the Thursday prior to the week attended or there is a $10 late fee. Students whose accounts are not current will not be permitted to attend class.

Extended care—Teen Center is required for all students who are on campus prior to 7:15 a.m. and after 4:00p.m. Payment is due with tuition. Students not registered for extended care but on campus during these times will be charged $5.00 per hour or any portion thereof.

Attendance

¡ Regular attendance is imperative in an intensive summer course. Students are permitted a

maximum of 2 (two) absences a semester. There are no excused absences in summer

school.

¡ Students are responsible to obtain and complete all missed work when they are absent.

¡ Tardiness impacts the learning of the individual and the class. 3 (three) tardies to any class

will be counted as one absence.

Code of Conduct

Antelope Valley Christian School code of conduct and rules of behavior are in force in summer school. Students should obtain a student handbook and are responsible for knowing school policies.

Dress Code

¡ T-shirts are permitted. Please no plain white shirts and no tank tops. Any words or pictures must be appropriate to the school philosophy and standards.

¡ Basketball shorts are permitted.

¡ Shorts are permitted-no more than 3" above the knee.

¡ Shoes must have backs-no Flip Flops.

¡ Skirts must be no more than 3" above the knee.

¡ Sweat pants and sweat shorts are not permitted.

¡ Undergarments may not show at any time.

¡ Students must not expose the abdomen or backs below their shirts.

¡ All clothing must fit – neither large and baggy, nor too tight.

¡ Girls may wear two earrings in the lobe of the ear. No other piercings are permitted for boys or girls.

¡ Hair must be cut and groomed neatly. Boys' hair must be maintained above the ears, above the eyebrows and above the collar. Hair must be a natural color.

¡ Decision of administration is final. Please refer to student handbook for questions.
